"Progress" Update on my cosplay for this year.

By which I mean, I haven't made any progress due to my severe lack off money and lack of a job, which I'm filling out applications to remedy.

I haven't truly had the opportunity to make any money as of late, but as soon as I can pay off my phone bill for the next year, as well as the $100 I owe my dad I can start ordering wigs, then materials.

I think the two hardest cosplays I've got planned are fancy dreamer Dirk and Horo's battle uniform (Shaman King). Luckily I chose easy cosplays for the most part since I foresaw money being an issue, next year I'll be tackling a lot of my more intricate cosplays!

Anyway, I have wigs chosen for most of my cosplays, Eridan and Horo are giving me trouble, however, I'm pretty sure I'll have to get Horo commissioned unless I'm positive I can do it (I'm sure I can't). 

I've also gotta find a nice fabric to use for Eridan's god damn pants, might have to find a white/grey striped fabric and dye it myself, as well as a pattern to use for his cloak.

All in all, pretty scared, but also optimistic things will work out.

Will probably post another progress update in a week or two, until then seeya~ (unless Furrat and I get our Dave and John photos from Fanime before then).

I'm back from Fanime 2013 and I am fucking exhausted.
I ended up cosplaying Dave for most of the weekend, seeing as Sirius and Prussia were super hot to wear and didn't go as well as planned, I didn't even wear Denmark, which makes me super sad, but I still had a lot of fun making friends (mostly on Sunday, I felt a little awkward the other two days, people seemed less.. Friendly, I guess). Lesson: Make a cosplay schedule, stick to it.
And, as predicted I spent way too much money for the third year in a row. My haul, however, was 2 swords (a Halo energy sword replica and a katana), 5 Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards (three first editions, a limited edition and a Kuriboh because Kuriboh), like 10 fucking prints, Avengers pillow, 3 wall scrolls (as if I have room), a new Prussia sweatshirt and a Prussian Eagle beer mug. Lesson: Budget, budget, budget (I have like $5...)
Definitely going to try different room arrangements next year, hopefully we can arrange for a room at the Hyatt across the street seeing as taking the shuttle is a pain because it was NEVER on peak, making travel between the room and the con difficult and stressful. Not to say I didn't get stressed about like everything else, because I was a big ball of stress a lot of the time, and it caused some issues, no fun for anyone involved.
As predicted, the panel we submitted wasn't accepted, and the only Hetalia all ages was at 10am on Sunday, lotsa bullshit, maybe next year, who knows? For now, I'm gonna go set up my cosplay plans for next year, wish me luck. I'll post the updated plans as soon as they're set in stone.
Or maybe I'll do it when I feel better, the weather's been terrible, my heater's broken and I just wanna cuddle my girlfriend right now.

I've never properly introduced myself on here, I think it's time I did so.

My name is Lilly. I game. I write. I draw. I cosplay. And I photograph. Those are my most preveant hobbies, though I refuse to showcase all of them on the same account (Hence why I have 2 others, the bastard that I am).

I've been playing World of Warcraft off and on since I was 8, I think, and I've been attempting Kingdom Hearts for about 2 years now (but Atlantica sucks so I'm not playing right now). I've very, very recent;y gotten into first-person shooters. Basically, I'll play anything you throw at me, save for a few I really don't care to try.

Writing is something I love and struggle with because it's great, amazing even when there's a flow, though I find it insanely difficult to maintain it for very long or to even reach that point in the first place. I don't think I'd mind being a writer someday, not at all.

Drawing is another thing I struggle with, I'm never fully pleased with the final product, so I stop. When I stop I don't improve. I will do it though, I'll get to where I want to be, to where I'm happy with my stuff.

Cosplay... A recently acquired hobby, and a very enjoyable one at that, despite it's expense. It's forcing me to get a job, I don't think I mind too much. It's worth it. I love the people I meet t conventions, and I just love the cosplay scene in general, it's fabulous.

Photography, now that... That is something I truly do enjoy, despite my hiatus with it. The pictures never turn out /just/ right and I fail to see any natural beauty in my surroundings, I see a very dull place, which I'm sure doesn't contribute to my inspiration.

I'm a bit hypocritical, but everyone is I think. It's something ineviteble with us humans, I believe.
I have very solid views of things, it takes a bit to sway me, though if I see error in my ways I'll do what I can to correct it.

A good friend of mine, he could be called my brother, he once described me with three words: Otaku, gamer,  hipster.
Obviously, otaku, in this sense, means an anime fan, a game fan, and I don't think this meaning holds negative connotations for me.
As for hipster, yes I can see it. I don't think it's overt or obnoxiously so, but it is there.

So, there it is then, a bit about the human that is me. It's a bit of a slap-dash journal, but I felt I needed to introduce myself, so I did.

So, Fanime's about 10 days away and instead of doing my homework or styling wigs I'm sitting on my ass playing Halo (at least until my brother takes his XBox back). And I really, really haven't been active on here as of late due to not really doing much cosplay wise this year, sadly. THough, I got a few costumes I'd love to shoot and will most definitely be!

Anyway, for Fanime this year I have 4 cosplays planned:
Prussia - Axis Powers Hetalia (default, blue WW2 uniform)
Viking!Denmark - Axis Powers Hetalia (Fan-design, won't be 100% but will be done aside from embroidery)
Sirius Black - Harry Potter (During his 5th/6th year at Hogwarts, will probably replace the wig later though).
Dave Strider - Homestuck (Alpha outfit, minus the glasses and without a wig, though I /promise/ my hair is  perfect right now)


So, those are my plans! I'm gonna try and attend both the Homestuck and Hetalia gatherings, the Hetalia gathering as Denmark unless something occurs and I have to be Prussia. Other than that I'll definitely attend panels and generally hang around in the halls, as well as rave. Other than that I'll probably be seeing Steam Powered Giraffe one night with my girlfriend, and doing a shoot with OscarC-Photography (at least unless we don't get a slot). The shoot will be for Dave and John (Deichan666)
Hopefully this'll be the best con yet! :3

Haha, but seriously, next year will be more stressful, at least getting to and from, I'm hoping we'll find a room with some friends though!
As for costume plans I'm planning on some for Fanime, some not for con and some for Sakura Con (If I can afford it).

So, there's my list, and I'm only gonna do Homestuck cos at the raves because I don't necessarily need a wig for dicking around and dancing, may just go as myself with some cool rave clothes, who knows. Anyway, there's my over long list.

EDIT: Also, I'm gonna try and do at least 1 journal a month just to keep updated on Cosplay progress, as well as post WIP photos, and completed projects as well as cosplay, and maybe tutorials (if anyone cares that is).
